Forging ahead on 46 WTF with 46 who is hitting the ground running

 January 25

did some stuff - Taco Bell lunch at the park - did some stuff - talked to jonas - beef tips w mashed potato for dinner and watched the Phantom with Billy Zane. 's all. Numbers below are from Sunday - I didn't have the energy to catch up.

World: 99,706,375 - 2,139,803 dead
US: 25,291,320 - 420,965

Sweden: 547,166 - 11,005 dead

 January 26-30

Tuesday went to the park and the store and I made pork chops for dinner. Wednesday I made stew with brisket and it was good and we had it for Thursday too. Spent much of the week working on our international students and getting some clarity on the new website and realized that in 2024 we may be headed for a really really bad time and that made me depressed. Wednesday or so I at least managed to write back to MW. We called Andrew on his birthday and he was sweet and proud and knows how to write and read. I had ordered two sweaters from J.Jill that arrived. One day I ordered some crispbread and grill chips and the day after it arrived. Weird.

Thursday night we figured out Jim was eligible to sign up through Baylor to take his vaccine and so I checked mychart too and it turned out I could make an appointment so Friday noon he went and Saturday at 5:15 I went (there at 5 and done by 5:07 then sat for a while to make sure I was okay). Before that we had lunch with Lauri at Fish City Grill and it was lovely to sit outside in the sunshine but it really was windy and there were too many people at the other tables. Salmon tacos were good, Old Fashioned not so good. Sade was a really nice waitress with lovely red hair.

The shot - Checked at the door to see that was not sick and then temperature checked and then in line for a minute and then got checked in at booth 6 by a nice young woman who appreciated that I had filled my information in online and then the next line that took a minute and then booth 10 with a nice young man who gave me the shot and told me to follow the arrows in the floor to the waiting area. I took a picture and posted to Facebook in support of getting the shot and then left. Three hours later I am a little sore and that is all.

Also checked the mailbox and there is a package probably from mom but more importantly from Homeland Security a notice they will use my old biometrics so I do not have to redo that and they are in the process of processing. It might really really happen. YAY.

January 31

talked to rachel and then annika and then annika again and then mom. I have a much better idea of what to say to L. and what I want (which also helps). Out late, sex, Fish n Fizz, campus for some pictures and then the grocery store for a cabbage stew thingy. Arm a bit more tender, but more raw then tender to the touch.

T is worse - several tumors in the brain, so no radiation. It so fucking sucks and I am not sure what to say or send or do. Will have to think on that.

45 wtf is the week that rids us of 45

January 18

I dreamed that the GSA had an event and there were lots of people and I got to hug and talk to them all.

January 19

still working on the international students and the graduating students and the students where the new people have opinions and on and on. First day of class and less stress, but also more loneliness. Gotta make everybody members on teams, gotta get the stats.

We hit 400,000 dead today and Potus 46 and VP mourned them publicly and beautifully. Maybe tomorrow gets to be a new day.

January 20-21

Wednesday was inauguration and I spent most of the day in front of the TV and everybody survived and it was nice and funny and Amanda Gorman was amazing and there was Lady Gaga and JLo and beautiful and colorful outfits and a firefighter who signed and recited the Pledge of Allegiance and the police who ran the mobsters in the wrong direction, Eugene Goodman, accompanied Harris. In the evening a lovely tribute to American and the everyday heroes and the music and art and creativity.

Thursday I did the food pantry and met Saleem and did the admin meeting from my office. Back home for two more meetings and then a Lewis and meatloaf. There are regular press briefings from the White House and Faucci is free to give information as he sees fit.

January 22-24

Went too quickly. Talked to mom a couple of times, including on Grays birthday on the 23. Email from Linda that was kinda stressful. Missed the fish on Friday so we went for Saturday lunch after we had taken five boxes for shredding. With dinner we watched an episode of Annika Bengtzon - crime detective that was kinda silly but it's always fun to see Stockholm. Milton on Sunday and then talked to Annika whose T is not doing well. He is dizzy and has tumors in the brain which means they pull him out of any trials and we don't know if he gets chemo or not and it just royally sucks.

Second week of the new year and we are at 44 WTF

 January 11

World: 90,260,468 - 1,934,784 dead
US: 22,404,484 - 374,322 dead
Russia:
Texas: 1,968,189 - 30,479 dead
Florida: 1,477,010 - 22,912 dead

Sweden: 489,471 - 9,433 dead

I have nothing else - long day trying to get people readmitted, meeting with students and trying to get everything to hold still.

January 12

Impeachment procedures moving forward. T**** is devolving in front of our eyes, today in Texas near the border where he explained that the wall saved us from the evil mexicans. Last week's riots are turning out to be much worse than we thought, more violent with numerous seriously wounded police. Joint chiefs of staff felt the need to sign a joint statement that Biden won and will be inaugurated next week and that military forces would obey lawful orders. https://news.usni.org/2021/01/12/message-from-joint-chiefs-on-u-s-capitol-riot .

January 13

Had a dream, which is unusual. Pleasantly disturbing, which is even more unusual. Trying to hold on to the moment, the staggering closeness, but like melting snow it is gone. Short lunch and then short dinner and worked until 11 pm to get the fact sheets done. Got them done and mostly caught up on the students coming in and getting registered or not, with holds or not. Aaagh. Listened to my music and got dizzy with being there but here.

January 14

4,000 dead daily - hospitals overrun, and we are used to it somehow. You decide you are not going to die this day and then you move on.

Jim was out and I got lunch from Panda Express. Ate in the park and got a short walk in. Admin meeting when we all pretend the world is normal in our little boxes. Made a chicken dinner that was not as appreciated as I hoped. Ah well.

It is getting clear the riot was organized, that people planned, and that right wing militias were in all four corners. The repubs have fed a monster and it will devour them if they don't take care. I will be much happier after Wednesday. It will still be hard, and there are risks, but they will have to regroup.

There was something I wanted to make sure to write down --- oh, this morning. Jim teased me by holding out a pen or something and when I tried to take it he held back, did it several times and I just shut down. I went back to third grade when the kids in my class stole my jacket with the metal stars on it and held it out like that and after gym when I got back to the changing room they had taken all the studs out and I cried. I think I still wore the jacket after that, but there is so little I remember. I think that is what Louise was apologizing for at McDonalds ten years later. I wonder if that is why I have such a hard time really fighting for something I want, because I am afraid someone will take it from me on purpose and so I get by without, not looking vulnerable. So much of my life forged in that one moment and I didn't even know until this morning.

January 15-17

Friday was work and a lot of it and finally done around six and then we had dinner and watched the first half of Fiddler on the Roof and Saturday we got up and went out and had McDonalds and breakfast in the park and i got a walk and then we tried to go to the Kimbell, but there were too many people there so we got food from Railhead and went home and watched the rest of Fiddler on the Roof and had dinner. It was a really good movie and touching to see what mormor's parents' life might have been like.

Sunday was Milton and the on-going confusion on whether it was God the father or God the son who punished Adam and Eve. Then working on beads for a while and out for lunch at in-n-out and a part of the book. A lovely walk at the Spring Creek part where we ran into David Channell and then Dennis and Matt. There was sex when we came home and then BBQ for dinner. Tried to get popcorn but the movie theater closed early. We did watch A Promising Young Woman and it was quite good and very powerful.  SO far, so good.

43, 43, WTF ... new year, same old stuff

 January 4, 2021

World: 85,653,549 - 1,853,133 dead
US: 20,815,571 - 353,133 dead
Russia:
Texas: 1,827,629 - 28,551 dead
Florida: 1,376,692 - 22,090 dead
Sweden: 437,379 - 8,727 dead

Got back to work and was confused most of the day. I think I can make myself focus better tomorrow - I hope so. Ben n them had lunch with Michael and Courtney yesterday and she tested positive this morning so we cancelled dinner, much to my regret. We did go by and drop the pies and I got to say hi to Cameron at the door. Tired and scared about politics and the runoff election and Wednesday and the threat of violence and the fucking phone call with clear evidence of sedition and the mutated virus and the crappy vaccination schedule and maybe I will never go to Sweden again and never see my mom again and it exhausts me. Jimmy Kimmel is taping his show from home again ....

January 5

Did finally manage to focus a bit and got the emails down and got some people taken care of. Tomorrow I will focus on the changes to the fact sheets, at least after I have participated in the Covid study. Watched the season finale of the Doctor and regained some faith. When she is ready to sacrifice everything she tells the others to "live great lives!" and that I took to heart. Maybe something to put on my gravestone. Yanno, something for folks to take with them.

I think we are losing the runoff in Georgia, even if the predictions still say blue wins, and I hate to see it happen, for several reasons, including the work Abrams and others have done. Anyway, the fight continues.

People keep dying and the hospitals are full.

January 6

went for my covid test and gave blood for some other tests too. Not sure what all they checked but that is fine. They will let me know if I am positive or have antibodies or have long term damage from something. Went to campus for a bit and left Tim Minchin for MW. On my way home I figured out the meeting with John and Alice was about to start, but they had done theirs earlier. He told me about Lillehammer - might watch that.

Worked and watched the election certification and then went back to work and Jim came in and told me the capitol was overrun with protestors, the president with Cruz and Hawley committed treason, and then I worked for a bit more and then I just couldn't. Watched TV nervously and thought McConnell and Pence acquitted themselves well. Made a necklace and earrings with brown agate and ended the evening with a Lewis, stomach ache and a fever. Jonas called so I got a bit of an update. Someone at work was unprofessionally lippy and is now gone.

January 7

several resignations and some mea culpas but so much too little and so very too late. Questions are being asked about the police response, the lack of national guard units and the cops taking selfies with the mob. Talked to mom for a bit. She is trying to keep track and is so engaged, but a little overwhelmed. I worked some in the middle of all of that, with my stomach still angry and fever coming and going. Bleah. Made the flank steak with bell peppers, onion and heated rice - went down really well.

January 8

some productive work. Pelosi and others are working on impeachment - unless they can get T**** to resign or induce Pence to trigger the 25th amendment. T**** is banned from Twitter - whatever account he uses. He did at one point broadcast a video saying there will be an orderly transition, but apparently he is now regretting that. Thursday over 4,000 people died and Friday over 300,000 people got infected. Talked with Jonas a bit. Work stressful for him and the environment tough. Hope he finds something better.

January 9-10

Saturday we did some errands - like shredding boxes with the stuff we cleared out Friday night - and then we had lunch with Lauri at El Primo. Good food and service again, but several staff with masks only half on. Had coffee at her house and then got home and watched the Christmas Special Dr. Who. She figured out that she is her whoever she was - maybe we can hold on and hold ourself together maybe there is a there there. Hah! Slept badly and moved to the guest room because the bed was crowded and overheated.

Sunday was Milton and some confusion about whether it was God the father or God the son who chastised Adam and Eve in Eden - Milton says God the son .... weird. Jan's son Mats is getting divorced - doesn't sound too bitter about it, and will stay in the house so probably all good.

Bits and bobs and updated teh SSEMWG website and did laundry and somehow it got late late. Still processing the insurrection.

WTF the fortysecond and the end of the blighted 2020 - alrighty then.

 December 28

Slow morning - talked to mom. Went to Chickfila for lunch and took it to the park - I got to walk part of the trail and it made me very happy. I guess it tells my body we are okay and moving and strong and there is no immediate danger to tackle so it lowers stress. When people talk about how they feel about jogging or hiking or riding or whatever it is they do it always out as if the feelings are external commentary, but they are an integral part of the experience. So it's not "doing that makes me happy" but rather "doing that IS happy".

Set up appt for Jim to get tested and had to wait three hours for them to get back with us during which time I did laundry and we watched the beginning of an Inspector Lewis and then we waited for 45 minutes in the parking lot and he got tested and was negative. Made sausage and gravy and mashed potatoes for him and fried rice for me. That works.

December 29
Talked to mom and Page and it was lovely. Got out late and went to the post office and then past Ben's to deliver gifts and then El Primo - amazing place with rooftop seating and great service and food. Finally put together the bowflex. Clear and comprehensive manual but it still took altogether three hours. Pulled my back - ah well. Put some Voltaren on - not sure if that was related to the nausea and dizziness that came and went.
Daily deathtoll in the US 3,628

December 30
Breakfast at McD and the park - it was raining, but still. Skipped lunch but did clean up some paperwork and went to Plano Municipal court for Jim's ticket that is now taken care of. Did 10 rounds of 90 seconds on the bowflex across the day - whoa.

December 31
Talked with Inger and then a long visit with mom who talked about the past and mormor and dad and lots ...... lunch at Fuel city and then we looked at lights and then it got late and on the way home Jonas and the kids called with mom and it was lovely and then I made Biff Greta and then we watched El Cid and then CRAIG doing the Dr Who song and then I fell in love again with my dearest. I believe, I will believe. In the triumph of intellect and romance over brute force and cynicism. So there https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M9P4SxtphJ4 .

January 1-3
Well, I can't remember much of the details .... Friday I do not know much of what we did, but I made pancakes for breakfast and then we muddled about and I talked with David for an hour and then Jim talked with Kim for an hour and then maybe we went out for a little but I don't know. I may have vacuumed and watered plants. We had biff Greta again and watched something on television I don't remember.

Saturday Jim went to meet with Cameron and I talked to mom again and she talked about religion and asked about what I would be if I had to pick one and I said judaism or buddhism and she agreed. I did beading for a while and was on the bowflex for a while and listened to my music and ported some of the playlists. Jim came home and we did fish and fizz and it was so good and then we saw They Call me Trinity. Surprisingly dirty and gritty (and funny at times), but otherwise unremarkable.

Sunday was Milton and I was not quite sharp and then Container Store and then Michaels and then McDonalds lunch at the park and I walked and it makes me so happy to be alive and strong and walk and fill my lungs with oxygen and see the people with their dogs and picnics and reading to their kids and playing and the trees and plants and LIFE. Then we went to Pie Emporium and got pies and there was a lot lot lot of people and I was a bit skittish because I want folks at LEAST 6 feet away, preferably 8 or 9. We stopped at Albertson's and then I had smoked salmon and brie for dinner and it was yummy. We were going to watch Dr Who's Christmas Special but figured out we had missed the three last episodes of season twelve so we watched the first one we had missed - about Mary and Percey Bysse Shelley. Beware Cybermen. Ended the evening with Craig interviewing Robin Williams.

41 wtf and what have we done

 December 21-22

Talked to mom for an hour and a half .... then made lunch (hot dog and potato and leek) and went to Trader Joe's and Central Market where they had kolsvart smoked licorice and Peter's Yard crispbread - yum. First episode of Queen's gambit. Tuesday Jim went for lunch out and I talked to mom for an hour and tried to find something to read. OH, and I had a dentist's appointment for cleaning. All is well.

December 23
Met with Catherine and Michele at Starbucks and then went to Michaels and then home at 5 and pot pie for dinner and beading and an Inspector Lewis. 45 has issued pardons and vetoed the defense bill and is devolving in front of our eyes. *sigh*

December 24
Called mom and Annika and Inger and Rulonna (left message). Did some errands and picked up the mail and there was my new calendar and the Christmas card from Jonas. Tamales for dinner - I liked the chicken but not the beef. Lethal Weapon was as good as I remember.

December 25
Talked to Sinikka and later Jonas and watched WW1984 - it was really not very good. Meatballs and mashed potatoes - not my best gravy. Late evening zoom call to Minnesota - they are so overwhelmingly awesome.

December 26
Got a drink and some cheese/salami at the gas station and then Meadows museum for Alonso Berruguete - renaissance sculptor in wood and paint. Weird but interesting. Very expressive figures. Fish for dinner and Jim got the shivers w back pain and some nausea and fever. Got him to bed after finishing Homefront and taking a hot bath.
Unemployment benefits expire today since 45 has not signed the covid bill. *sigh* They are still playing chicken with people's lives.

December 27
Jim still sick. Forgot to write R so we cancelled Milton. Spent the morning in limbo and did not get unstuck even after the boflex thing was delivered at 11. Did do some beading during the afternoon. Left the house at 5:15 for a WALK - to the park and did the short circle and then home. So so nice to get out again for the first time since spring. Couldn't get the music to work but enjoyed it thoroughly anyway. Got home at 6:00 when it was dark. Got Thai food for dinner and stopped at Albertson's for eggs and got stuck in the parking lot listening to This American Life about the Mutchler's Christmas traditions  https://www.thisamericanlife.org/482/lights-camera-christmas/act-one-7 and then watched the Holiday with Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz and Jude Law and Jack Black (beautiful scenery and some clever scenes, clearly trying for a mix between When Harry Met Sally and Love, Actually, but not quite making it)
45 finally signed the relief bill, but so late that there will be a gap in support over New Year's. Gah.

Week 40 of the wft and there are very few cares left

 December 14 - 16

Monday lunch in the park. I went to campus a little bit and said goodbye for the winter break. Students were getting pictures for graduation and Kevin was there studying as always. I drove home and stopped to get my inspection done. We hit 300,000 dead in the US and the electors voted for Biden so now he really is president-elect. Even Putin said so and after him Mitch McConnell. The first Americans got vaccinated.

Tuesday a lot was not working because they were migrating servers. I still got some done and we did the second night in a row at teh store room. The hacking of so many companies and government agencies wer reported - scary.

Wednesday we had a brief meeting with the grad team and Alice was there and the world is better. I renewed the car registration. One year anniversary of Tracey's death. Over 3,400 people dead in one day in the US - is this the winning we were supposed to be doing ...

Florida: 1,155,335 - 20,204 dead
Sweden: 348,585 - 7,802 dead

December 17
Potbelly lunch in the park and then back to work. Finally got the new class set up for the certificate. Did some other stuff and then we went to the STOREROOM and emptied the old one completely. So happy about that. Tomorrow we can cancel it and be done. Watched Iliza - confirmedkills from 2016. She is devastating at times. Buttdialed mom and scared her - she scared me when she called to check on how I was doing ... oh well. At least we are both well.

December 18
Did the last day of work and stuff and things and then we had fish n fizz for dinner. Checked the news a bit and learned more scary things about the hack - so many systems affected. Jim went to bed early and I played a big fish game for a bit. Yay

December 19
Talked to Annika who's fine but T is having side effects and then breakfast tacos at fuel city and then stoneridge mall for ellipticals but we stopped at beads unlimited on the way and then we did lunch at Terry Blacks and then home and I talked to Jonas who said Rs sister tried to commit suicide .... *sigh* and told me mom got sick from the flu vaccine she took but is better today. Forgot to take my meds Friday night so feeling a bit antsy but taking them tonight. Worried about Nietzsche who has diarrhea and feels puny. *sigh* Got popcorn from teh movie theater and watched Die Hard - still fun.
US 17,649,057 -  316,144 dead today.

December 20
Talked to Rachel (who figured out that I was really hoping Milton would succeed in explaining the ways of god to man and then to Simon (who is still looking for meaning and finds dating problematic but does like his job and plays in a band) and then went out for something and checked on ellipticals and they were out at Dick's and then we had lasagna and then we watched SNL and then we went out again and got catfood and stuff and then we watched Heartridge Hotel with dinner (I ate the last rib and Jim had some Mac n Chese). Somewhere I figured out that you get jaded because you have seen so many of each thing when you get to a certain age so fewer things are new and inspiring and you think the stuff you grew up with is better because that was new and fresh (even if it was only new and fresh and original to you).
Apparently there is a deal for another cares package - finally.

Had Rosa, Renee, Amanda, and AJ share - nice and fun meeting.

December 8-10
Talked to Inger one of the days. Wrote Beth for her birthday.
We are now at 3000 dead each day. Texas AG has filed a stupid law suit in the Supreme Court to overturn votes in 4 other states.
Tuesday I went to campus and picked up all the stuff for the cupboard. Got it out, got it downstairs and then went outside and asked the kids outside to help carry. They did it happily and when I got to the police station V helped to unload. The world is a nice place. Oh and I met Michael and gave him the hand cream I found at the British Emporium.

Wednesday I went back and got the Portuguese language exams and talked to Lisa a bit.

Thursday Alice is back a little. We talked about Ethnic Studies in an extra meeting. I figured out that part of the optimism in the 70s (see Shulamith Firestone) was the space race.

 December 11-13
and then the rest of the week went by and I honestly have no idea what happened. We had Fish n fizz one day and worked on the store room some and of course did Milton on Sunday, which also was Lucia. I baked then I think and Sunday night I got all the grading done and grades in.

No class and a very very slow and unsorted day.

December 1
paid the rent. got a little updated on email and stuff.

December 2
Found out Alice tested positive. Talked to mom a little. Some meetings and started figuring out how to do the oral exams and realized the database and other files sorely need updating - we are so behind. Oh, apparently Peter is teaching a class in the spring - I am glad someone told me ... Took a break for dinner and then back to work for a bit.

December 3
Somewhere in here there was a lot of election crazy - more and more and more. Got slippers and a new water fountain for the cats.

 December 4-6
went fast ... Friday was the teach-in group that was good and nurturing and productive. Something else happened in the afternoon that was good, but I can't remember what. Jonas called in the evening - on his walk. We went to get graphite and missed getting fish so we had something else instead. Saturday I called mom and David and Simon so that was nice. D is firmly convinced they are doing the right thing - yeah well. We spent the whole afternoon at Jim's computer watching things and hanging out together. Fish for dinner and the book. Sunday was lunch with Grace at Taste and then we drove around and saw things in FW and then we drove by Ben's and picked up a backup drive and got to see their back yard and planned a gettogether for the holidays. Emporium Pie (and Jim had Fuel City tacos). Watched the first two episodes of the Salisbury Poisonings

Last day of class - went well, although there was a bit of discussion about

November 24
really slow to get started ... (the late night awake but asleep intimacy was fun) and really scattered but got some things done and people registered so yay. Finally got the email out for the poster thing - phew. Wrote Beth, got the revised draft back to D ... Minnesota called at nine and made my heart overflow.

November 25

worked half a day but longer and got a bit done - don't remember the rest.

November 26
Thanksgiving, I guess.

November 27-29
I know we went to Klyde Warren two days in a row. I know Jim fell and hurt his elbow probably on Friday and we went to a sports medicine place on Preston. Watched the day of the Jackal - pretty darn good. I know I talked to Simon and Rachel and mom and tried to call Inger and David. Went to the Beading Dreams on Saturday and Rock Barrell on Sunday  for the first time in my life - LOTS of stuff to see.
Sunday I did laundry and we got the christmas stuff from the store room and I got the advent stuff up and cleaned a little\. Last two episodes of the Undoing.
I forgot to get the numbers on Sunday. Head is mush.

WTF is now at 36

 November 16

Taught on campus - six people showed up. Got Thai food on the way home.

November 17 - 22

I really don't know. I thought I had written a bit of something, but apparently I just dropped the ball and cratered. One of the days was a serious discussion of all the ways I am not doing right, sigh. The politics were exhausting with vote certifications and lawsuits and terror and shit.

Tuesday I went to have tea with Kendra and I didn't really have time but it was lovely and I met her friend Lisa who sings in the opera choir and the garden was beautiful and we picked our own lemon balm to make tea and there was a cat walking on the fence triggering the neighbor's dog and there were chicken and conversation and delight. On the way out a strange maybe mythical animal that helps with the sheep on Iceland.

Friday we went out for dinner to Oddfellows and then went home and watched Tim Minchin that I had bought tickets for on the tubes. Lovely.
Saturday I made muffins and talked with Annika and then we stopped by beading dreams and then lunch with Lauri at Los Molcahetes - if I never eat Mexican again I would be just as happy. I saw myself in the truck window and was confused at seeing mormor and my dad looking back at me - ghosts everywhere. Then we had cupcakes of various flavors and came home and watched Paddington 2 and lots of people remembered my birthday and life was good and then

Sunday I talked with Rachel and then Mom and then Annika and then sex and then we went for lunch at Bonchon that I liked and Jim didn't and then the grocery store and then home and do the rest of Ds translation and dinner w a little bit of Kim's convenience but we stopped it half way through. This is the anniversary of Cecelia's death and I miss her - weirdly. Sigh.

November 10
Lunch out and a walk in the park.

November 11
Got up early and went to get flowers and milk for veterans' day. Pulled applicant profiles for John who was upset about the lack of subtitles - agreed. Faculty meeting that I helped take notes for. Got numbers for Michele and registered some people. Jim slept most of the day. No concession yet. Coup?

November 12
lots of meetings, short call to mom. Dinner at Fish n Fizz. Shortness of temper. Cases are increasing - over 150,000 new cases and over 1,400 dead in the last day - fourth day in a row over 100,000 or some such. Getting scary again.

November 13
Went to campus to pick up flags. MW had left two issues of poetry and a CD with a duplicate (turned out he had let me the first one too). Had dinner (Terry Blacks) tried watching Death in Paradise but stopped halfway through. Cranky

November 14
cranked up the cranky - can't quite make heads or tail of it ... More storeroom cleaning and a trip to the dump, but we got started late. Came home and made a pair of earrings (amethist and the odd shaped burned silver) - Dinner at Kenny's and then it got late trying to find another movie - watched half of Bunuel's last movie that I cannot even remember the name of, something to do with Conchita.

November 15

Milton did okay. Tora has pure O - sounds exhausting. Coopers old timey barbecue with the FW Robertsons. All there. Cameron has become an adult and was excited and a bit overwhelmed and nervous and proud and all. Jim sat with him and they all talked the whole time. Then pictures. Then korean cookies - Terry Black's for dinner with another episode of death in paradise that was still really silly. Laundry.

Wintertime and WFT 34 - here goes

 November 2

World: 46,860,757 - 1,206,069

Texas: 942,303 - 18,534 dead

Okay day ... talked to Annika in the morning - she headed to a spa, J and J have both bought apartments. Emails, registration, and still some milestones. Class was more marxist theory and some Butler - wove in Plato and made it all make sense, sort of. Got another box from Mom, from mid October. The the end of Unforgotten just miserably sad as people badly broken try to hold their lives together. Looked in the mirror and saw dad - miss him, still. Tomorrow is election day and I am scared.

November 3
Election night. I should have written something but I was too terrified - we still don't know. I kept having visions of the jews who didn't leave in time because they could not fathom how bad it would be.

November 4
There is hope, although there are still lawsuits and 45 is suggesting the dems are "finding" ballots if they keep counting votes. So many people complicit. Oh, and today we hit 100,000 new cases of covid-19 in one day. Our coffee table arrived ... in the middle of everything, life goes on. Rachel called during dinner because her landlord made her sleepless.

November 5

You just keep slogging through and taking one day, one hour at a time. Keep the faith, keep your head down, one step at a time and toes first. Cameron has signed up for the army as a combat medic - sets out on the 24th. I hope it will make him happy. We bought an elliptical and I hope we will use it.

November 6
Manny didn't send the questions yesterday so AK exam was moved to today and then Alice had a doctor's appointment and I didn't see that she had asked me to send it out and when I did I couldn't get to the shared mailbox and John was in a dissertation defense and sent me teh questions and I got them sent out but they were the wrong questions so I called Charles and we figured out a solution and AK was fine with it and then the day went on like that. Finished the report for the women at six and then Jim took me to Michael's before dinner and then we watched election stuff all night as I made earrings. It does like like patience will pay off - maybe with an actual mandate. Yay.
Of course this was also the third day in a row of new cases over 100,000 - 125,000 to be precise. Biden mentioned that in the almost victory speech he gave late in the evening where he said he and Kamala have started the work already. They will hit the ground running.
There is so much work to be done.

November 7
They finally called it. and the people cheered and came together in the streets and had dance parties and the relief was palpable. Biden and Harris spoke in the evening and promised to work for all of American. Biden recited a hymn and spoke of the work ahead and Harris spoke of the audacity of hope and then their families came on the stage and there was fireworks and music and dancing and  joy.
Our day was full of stress and conflict and I am not sure why. We watched the Bourne conspiracy and I almost broke two of the remotes. Another day of over 100, 000 cases.

November 8
Well ... we did the Milton and talked about evil and how sad it is, how limited and broken. Then I messed up breakfast, lashing out at Jim for something I had set up ... it did lead to a good discussion about where we are and the stress and frustration and some of the pieces. We biked to the grocery store and the storage room and left the bicycles there and sorted out a fair bit of things to throw away. Tried watching the Age of Consent with James Mason and Helen Mirren and it was pretty bad, except the shack turned painting was awesome.

------------------

October 29

I don't know - I really thought I had posted some and not lost track completely - but the week went so quickly - mostly busy with computer issues - and the new show, Unforgotten with Nicola Walker who is brilliant - and I didn't sleep well. We got barbeque from Terry Black's, that was nice. The election is terrifying.

Julia got a job at Collin which is good - we are looking at a 12% cut next year, no idea where from.

Kendra stopped by and waved, made me happy. She is about to do a workshop on stories that haunt you. Never got a good idea, a handle, on what that will be.

Abby retires tomorrow - we made a card - I hope she likes the idea of at least getting a little celebrated. Beth and Sherry and Jo Ellen all signed ... and Jerry.

October 30

Apparently I missed yesterday. Spent a lot of time working the computer to make it work. I think I did, finally, with Carlos's help. Internal camera works, but not external - bleah. Outlook works, but not extra mailboxes.

October 31

Started with resigning wills w Lauri and then went to Grace for a bit and then Railhead and then looked at ellipticals - tense and tired and confrontational .... made febras for dinner and tried watching season two of unforgotten but it got tense so no and then fuck if I know. So now it is almost midnight and I am about to go to bed.

November 1

was a nicer day. Rachel and Milton first and the pride of Eve thinking she could hold fast on her own, with no external help or support. Then youghurt and sudoku and then vaccuuming and then at noon out for lunch at Fish and Fizz and then to Busybody for a long ponderous introduction to ellipticals and then to Macys, and Dillards, and a duvet cover that works and then Unforgotten and then grading and then more Unforgotten and I refuse to be scared and I refuse to dream and the election is two days away. We shall overcome - some day.

Stuff and things and lots and planned for class and did Marx and Freud and the discussion was pretty good and Jim made meatloaf and Jonas called and we had a longer talk and it was wonderful. Then Discovery x2.

October 20

Another day too long, and too busy to keep track. Viva Volunteer meeting, Veteran's Advisory Board meeting, chat with Alice, John called I think. State of the University - Faculty Speaker did a great job. Checked in with mom who took off to see a TV show. Why not. Worked until six and did not go with Jim when he was looking for a cable to his camera. At least I got the website updates out to Brandon and am only down 10 emails. 's all I know.

October 21

dentist - one filling and one crown. Had to reinstall Teams

October 22

Meetings - website meeting, track meeting, admin meeting - Teams still not working well and I reinstalled again. Made a blue necklace with pieces from Iowa. Dinner at In'n Out. The second and last debate ... weirdness.

October 23

Friday ... computer issues most of the afternoon. Several meetings. Tired

October 24

Viva Volunteer with Girl Up. We made thank you cards for the Comet Cupboard and apart from the computer issues it was fine. Jim had a photo shoot and came home at five giggling with happy. Dinner was pizza and The Boys in the Band - self loathing and what it does to you, midnight mass and the open door - a chance at redemption. Jim Parsons brilliant.

Milton - a brilliant soliloquy about the depths of despair and self-hatred mixed with self-deception. Not taking responsibility seems to be a shared trait of evil and crazy people. We also talked about the swedish politician with dreadlocks. Nap and then late lunch with Lauri at Los Molcahetes. Fell asleep trying to work and doing Big Fish. Dinner at late.

Waded through email. Talked to John about assessment and catalog changes, talked to Adrienne, prepared for class and made lists. Jim had a photo shoot and then made hobo dinners that did not cook so we had chickfila. Midsummer season 19 episode 1.

October 13

Dunno what happened. Hobo dinners for lunch that were delicious. Sausages and potato for dinner.

October 14
started feeling feverish and did not sleep well. Hobo dinners for dinner. Yum

October 15
still feverish (101.9) - constipated. 's all. Thai food for dinner.

October 16
Worked and got stuff done. Felt better during the day but crashed a little toward the evening (99.8). Jim talked with the Insurance adjuster on the RV - I gave some details from checking my google timeline. Stopped at Albertsons for milk and bread and then had In 'n out for dinner. Started a movie with Tom Selleck and Sam Elliot but electricity blinked long enough we lost internet for half an hour. Never finished the movie. Did find the IRS form jim was looking for in D - datafiles - turbotax - 2019 was lost under 2018. Ah well.

October 17
woke up with no fever (97.3) had a cracker jim woke and then we had a nap and then I tried calling Inger and called mom and then we went to the post office and got the sound bar Jonas had sent and then talked to the vet to see about cat food and then to Grapevine for photo shoot locations and it was lovely and then lunch at Fish and Fizz and the British Emporium and then the Wooden Spoon where Gwen was giving away some music dvds and casettes she didn't know what to do with. I was feeling mostly better but stomach not quite happy (a bit painful on and off) and then home and sex and nap and then stuff and then movie popcorn!!!!! and Casino Royale which was really good and sad and exciting and then SNL. Now bed

October 18

Rachel's birthday so no Milton - but I listened to John Rogers and thought about digestion and the issue of tartar and dregs and how God could create what must be evil.
Weird day - lots of miscommunication and tension that I never figured out. Got teh dishes and the laundry and the vacuuming and watering and kitchen table and a bit of the storage and the sound bar from Jonas put in and it is LOTS better.

On October 1 we went to drop off the cats and pick up the RV and packed and left for Rochester at around five. We got up there Friday around 9 pm and had Chinese food and saw Beth in her date night dress and Saturday we did yoga and Dale made waffles and we went to Quarry Hill and watched Spies in Disguise - really good. Sunday I made pancakes and then I will have to look and then it was Monday and I got to drop off the kids and play games and listen in on school and then Tuesday and more games and beads and we made jewelry and I helped pick up Beth in my dinosaur costume and I tried the electric bicycle and we packed a little.

Wednesday morning we left, driving to Iowa and then sat with Kim and Sebastian and Calista and took pictures of Sebastian rollerskating and got beads and later had spaghetti and watched the VP debate. Thursday we had breakfast downtown and hung out and talked and then left at noon and drove to some place south of Tulsa and slept at a Love's and then drove home and got the cats and unpacked and then crashed a little and then it was today and I did midterms and we dropped off the RV and we had dinner with Ben and family at Heims?

28 and the wtf is going strong ... this is not the never ending story I wanted to be part of

September 21

Dreamt of David. He was having a party with some very weird women in attendance. One of them was funny though, and nice.

Julia back at work for the last few weeks. Milestones and forms updated. Ate - thai - at my desk and prepared for class that went okay. They listened and listened and then actually had some energy for discussion ... yay.

I don't know what happened - if anything happened. I did talk to mom in the morning and Jonas in the evening. Jim made hobo dinners. Returned to Start Trek Discovery - Stamets getting lost in the mycelial network seems an apt metaphor.

September 24
Started the day with Ackerman workshop on race. Very mixed bag of speakers with interesting but unusual speakers. Then lunch from Long John Silver at the park - a brief walk and a lovely compliment on my blue necklace. Then work and an admin meeting where I talked about the survey and got questions on everything it didn't do. *sigh* ... then a workshop where the poetry broke me. I was not able to do that work on tap and folded and then apparently missed a good discussion. Feeling very vulnerable and far from knowing what to do and not sure how to get there. Stopped by the second meet of GirlUp and they graciously let me go. Jim suggested a nap which helped and the hobo dinner night three also helped together with the last episode of season one of Discovery.

September 25
Today went better. Grad team meeting with Buki. Talked to Mom and had a brief visit with Kendra. Jim lost a hearing aid. Dinner from Terry Blacks. Watched two episodes of Rached - excellent acting and beautiful sceneries, but empty. Again and still, having to pull myself together. Feeling like I am behind but not sure where or how. OH yeah, assessment ...

Nurse Rached - dinner from Terry Blacks. I guess I just missed it?

September 27

Rachel and apartment hunting. She will make a spreadsheet. Got stuff from the store room. Prepared a midterm handout. Made a heavy brown and white necklace. More startrek. NYT say they have the tax transcripts ... lots and lots and lots of data.

WTF 27 - The second half of a year begins

 September 14

Spent most of the day prepping for class - and it went well. Watched a Jack Reacher while I made a necklace.

 September 15

Called Jonas to wish him happy birthday. Met a couple of students (one prospective Archer) and went to the rv place and they did not show their rvs because of the pandemic ... stopped at the Wooden spoon and got bread and licorish and then home and finally worked on the donation button and the other stuff.

Phew. Then episodes three and four of Discovery.

 September 16

Went to campus for lunch with Kim - really nice with a real life event. Student complaints against a ranting prof. Navigating, navigating .... Missives to and from MW and a text from D. so a social day. Called Caleb in the evening and then watched five and six of Discovery. So so tired.

Slept late so I was better early in the day. Got some things done. Got not enough done. Read-In was good. Admin meeting okay. NR will apparently talk to the offender.

I got The Crying book and it is beautiful. RBG died. Scared, tired, depressed. Then I think people, some people, went through the holocaust, died in the trenches in WWI. We went for chocolate fudge sundaes late.

I read in The Crying book and it is beautiful. We went for breakfast to Oddfellows but it was too full, so instead we went to Fuel City for breakfast tacos and then to get the mail and then to Specs for more Campari. They also have Fernet Menta. Dinner at Lauri's. Tenuous grip on reality - fading in and out.

Talked to Rachel for two and a half hours and to Annika for an hour and a half. Went to see the RV and booked it. Got all the laundry done and vaccuming. Numbers from the morning of the 21st.
